Abstract

Type Ia Supernovae represent very precise standardized distance indicators on cosmological distances, even if the origin of their diversity has not been explained so far. In this talk I will review the potential effects of the stellar progenitor initial metallicity Z on the physical and chemical properties of the exploding WD. I will analyze the interplay of convection and URCA processing during the simmering phase and I will discuss the limits of the current generation theoretical models.
