Gaia@SSDC: an easy way to access Gaia data releases and cross-matched external catalogues

Giovedì 18 febbraio alle ore 15:00, il dr. Michele Fabrizio dell’INAF-OA Roma e ASI-Science Data Center (SSDC), terrà il web-seminar dal titolo: Gaia@SSDC: an easy way to access Gaia data releases and cross-matched external catalogues.

Abstract

On December 2020 the Gaia Early Data Release 3 has been released to the scientific community. The EDR3, based on 34 months of input data, exhibits significant improvements in precision and accuracy of astrometry and broadband photometry with respect to the DR2. The Space Science Data Center (SSDC), located in Rome, is one of the four partner datacenters that made available the Gaia data simultaneously with the ESA Gaia Archive (ESAC). In particular, we developed a user-friendly web interface (gaiaportal.ssdc.asi.it) to query the data, obtaining, in a very simple way, the results users need for their scientific research. Moreover, we also implemented, calculated and provided the official cross-matches of Gaia with optical/near infrared photometric and spectroscopic surveys, thus complementing the Gaia release contents with existing and widely used data, allowing the fully scientific exploitation of Gaia.In this presentation, I will shortly introduce the Gaia EDR3 and give the details of the cross-match algorithms used and the external catalogue data curation applied. I will also show how to query Gaia and cross-match results by using the GaiaPortal. Finally, I will demonstrate the full capabilities of the Gaia cross-matches with the real scientific case of the halo RR Lyrae stars.
